Underway - 04/10/2007
Using .Net SqlClient
The KBX development team are currently reviewing the way in which KBX communicates with SQL Server. Currently the .Net OleDB Provider is being used. However work is underway to enable the native .Net SqlClient provider to be used when the database type of SQLServer is specified. It is hoped that development work and testing on this will be completed by the second week in October.

New FAQ
A new FAQ has been written detailing the steps required for triggering stored procedures in a SQL Server database from KBX scripts. The new FAQ is available from the KBX Forum under the Resources/FAQ Section in post Database - Triggering SQL Stored Procedures.

New Script Command Family
The KBX development team have recently completed a new family script commands to enable powerful manipulation of the interview. The new family of commands accessible from the interview.override family and will be fully functional in version 1.16 of the KBXDeveloperInstall soon to be published. Using this new family you are able to dynamically change the question design content of the following areas: bodyText, format, length, lock, multiline, optionText, pretext, postText, required.

Technical Forum
The team have completed the configuration of the Technical Forum. We have uploaded plenty of FAQ content for review and welcome comment on these. We will be adding additional content over time.

Triggering SQL Stored Procedures
The KBX Scripting Language can now be used to trigger SQL Server stored procedures. FAQ on how to do this will be made available once the new forum is up and running.

The support team are in the last stages of installing and configuring the new KBX support and information forum. We expect the forum to go live by the 2nd week in July.

Work is underway to enable SQL stored procedures to be triggered from KBX Scripts, it is expected that this development phase will be completed early July.

KBX Display Engine Upgrade
The development work for the new display engine is now complete and is in the final phase of testing and a new upgrade will be made available early in July.

KBX Display Engine Upgrade
The KBX display engine is to be given an upgrade; the developers have had some great ideas for increasing the speed of the delivery of the html interface as well as the rendering of the delivered HTML environment.

KBX and SQL Server Compact Edition Integration
SQL Server Compact Edition (SQL Server CE) integration has been completed. SQL Server CE integration works in exactly the same way as the existing SQL Server integration. The SQL Server CE integration has an area of extended functionality enabling the dynamic creation and maintenance of databases through the scripting environment. This feature is perfect for users working offsite who need a light weight data storage environment.

KBX Interviews and Adobe Forms Integration
KBX Development to enable the dynamic population of PDF forms from KBX interviews has now been completed and a new release will be made available shortly. The KBX Toolkit can now be used to script what data should be populated onto a pre-existing PDF document or what data should be read from a pre-existing PDF Form. The team are now working on a downloadable sample project to show the integration in action.

KBX and SQL Server Compact Edition Integration
The KBX Team is looking to extend the database integration available in the toolkit to enable to use of SQL Server Compact Edition. The development work will enable SQL Server Compact Edition tables to be generated on the fly as well as reading and writing data. This will enable KBX Developers to leverage the power of SQL for local testing or for completed applications were clients are disconnected from their server environment.

KBX Interviews and Adobe Forms Integration
Development is nearing completion that will enable data sharing between KBX Interviews and PDF Forms. This KBX development will enable the population of Dynamic Forms from data collected in KBX interviews. This will provide the facility whereby intelligent interviews can be created to ensure the correct collection of data from a user, and this information can then automatically populate an existing PDF Form. As well as being able to populate data from the KBX interview to the PDF Form it will also be possible to Read data from the PDF form into a KBX interview.
